CZECH TECHNOLOGICAL PLATFORM FOR FOODSTUFFS

Food and healthy way of life are the main focus of the Czech Technological Platform for Foodstuffs.

Vision of the Czech Technological Platform for Foodstuffs is an effective integration of strategically focused and coordinated, transnational research in the area of nutrition, food and consumer domains and the management of the food chain. This should bring the upgraded, new and improved food products for national, regional and global markets in accordance with the needs and expectations of the consumers. These products, together with recommended changes in eating habits and lifestyle, will have a positive impact on public health and overall quality of life ("active aging").Thus  focused activities will promote a successful and competitive Czech agri-food industry, whose global business management is based on economic growth, technology transfer, environmental sustainability and consumer confidence.

ČTP currently has less than 100 members. They are companies and institutions that have a relationship to food, and operate throughout the food chain – from agriculture through manufacturing industry, universities, research institutes, the carriers, retail to consumer associations. Through the Monitoring Committee  the participation of the Government and the supervisory bodies is ensured.

The main objective of the platform is to strengthen the competitiveness of the Czech food industry within the common market by increasing its innovative capabilities, by a better determination of the objectives of the research and by creating links between research institutes and production enterprises. Other priorities include the improvement of communication with the Administration on the one hand, and the consumer organizations and the consumer itself, on the other hand. In the case of the state administration, the interest is to participate more in the preparation of programmes with an impact on the competitiveness of enterprises, while in the case of the consumer, it is his education for making responsible food choices in order to shift his preference to higher quality, more suitable products from the point of view of nutrition and domestic producers.
